'On the Record' audiences also are witnessing the birth of a star in Ashley Brown as the show's ingénue.

Critical response to "Record" has been mixed - the dreaded "cute" word has been consistently used, but Brown has come through it smelling like a rose - and getting the show's best notices, outshining Tony Award-nominated star Emily Skinner.
